XML-RPC Ping Service List

One of many ways to make our blog popular fast is frequently doing ping to any ping services such as technorati.com and the others, so that our blog update will be sent quickly to the sites provide the ping service.

What can you do with above ping address? If you use the application that can do the ping automatically, the list of ping address above will be useful. However, you do not need to install all, select the best appropriated to you visitor target. Below is the list Kang Rohman Uses:

As an example, if you use Window Live Writer as Kang Rohman has discussed at the article Let’s enjoy blogging with Window Live Writer and Question and Answer about Windows Live Writer (WLW), you can add the ping address so Window Live Writer will do automatically. Here are the steps:

  1. Run your Window Live Writer program
  2. Click Tools, then Options. Windows Options will appear

  3. Click Ping Servers and see at the right side. Check the box beside Send pings to the URLs below (one URL per line). Click apply then OK

With the setting above, each time you post, Windows Live Writer will send the ping automatically to any ping services as listed above.

Installing the address of XML-RPC Ping Service in wordpress.org

For those who use wordpress.org (self-hosting, not wordpress.com) in default, it uses automatic ping by using ping o matic. To make it more effective, you can add the ping address above.

To install the address is very easy, but because wordpress version is a lot, the display will be different. Actually if you are familiar with wordpress, it is not a big deal.

Below are the steps to install or include the ping services address at wordpress 2.6.2:

  1. Login to your wordpress.org
  2. Click Setting, then click Writing
  3. Scroll down and see the text area under Updates Service you will find the ping address for ping o matic. Remove and replace with ping services address listed above.

  4. Click Save Changes button
  5. Done

I hope with the steps above, your blog updates will automatically be sent to any ping services. In additional, your visitors will increase.
